School - Family Collaboration

The Village school values parent, carer, and family partnerships. We do this carefully in four ways:

1. Open Communication: Families receive their child’s targets, timetables, medium-term planning aims, proactive support plans, and class team updates each term. The school promotes communication that values working together, celebrating successes, and problem-solving with the solution as the aim. The best way to contact us is via email or phone.

2. Evidence for Learning:  The school uses the online system Evidence for Learning. Every family has a protected login into the system. Families regularly receive updates on their child’s learning. This is to build the picture of progress. Families are invited to share key experiences in the home environment so that class teams can learn and incorporate this into the class planning.

3. Arbor App:  The Arbor Parent App is our chosen Parent App for managing pupil and parent information. We are now using the ‘Arbor App’ for almost all we do alongside email.

We are still developing how Arbor is used in this way, and the breadth of what can be accessed from within the app will only expand over time.

4. Family Workshops:  We have a workshop program across the term. It is developed by the Family Liaison Officer (FLO) in coordination with the school’s team. This is an opportunity to connect with other parents and carers across the school, for learning and wellbeing.

Parent Forum & Feedback:

We welcome feedback from parents and carers as we believe it enables us to better support our students. We also survey parents, carers, staff, and students every year to make sure they are listening to everyone in our community.

Parent Forums

Each term we host an Online Parent Forum which will share a short presentation about a pre-publicised topic, e.g. exams & assessments or personal development, followed by the opportunity for parents/carers to ask Mr Stelamszczyk (headteacher) any questions on any topic.
